The Walton County Sheriff’s Office investigates the drowning death of a toddler. It happened Sunday evening in the Freeport area, off Highway 20.
The child, identified as Ryan Wagner, 2, of Freeport, apparently wandered out of his home and got into an in-ground pool at the home next door. The home is reportedly under renovation, and the water in the pool was not clear enough to immediately see the bottom.
Authorities are investigating the incident, but say it appears to be nothing more than a tragic accident.

Obituary for Ryan Blake Wagner
Ryan Wagner, two years of age, of Freeport, Florida passed away March 22, 2009. He was born May 15, 2006 in Ft. Walton Beach to Patrick and Dana Kelly Wagner.
Ryan enjoyed following his dad around, playing with his brothers and sisters. He was a very happy and loving little boy who was full of life; he also enjoyed watching ‘Dora the Explorer’. He also loved and had fun with his Uncles Todd, Stan, Lloyd, Thomas, Aunts Sherri, Shell, Uncle Hay, cousins Collin, Kyle, J.D., Tiffany and Tori.
Ryan is survived by his father and mother Patrick and Dana Wagner of Freeport; maternal grandmother Sara Kelly of Navarre Beach, Florida; paternal grandmother Debbie Wagner of Texas; two brothers Jordan and Brandon Wagner and one sister Sara Wagner all of Freeport.
A time of visitation will be held from 6:00~8:00 PM, Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Clary-Glenn Freeport Chapel Funeral Home; 150 East Highway 20, Freeport, Florida 32439.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Clary-Glenn Freeport Chapel Funeral Home.
Floral arrangements are being accepted.
Burial will follow in the Hatcher Cemetery.
