Police continue the search for an armed and dangerous suspect.  It started with the robbery of Bay Credit Union Bank on the corner of Everitt Ave. and Cherry St. in Springfield.  Officers responded to an alarm at around 2:30 Friday afternoon.

“This was a dynamic entry at the bank I’m told,” said Springfield Police Chief Philip Thorn, “he took an undisclosed amount of money.”

The bank turned into a crime scene, as the Bay County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, search helicopter, and Panama City Police Department assisted.

This isn’t the first time the bank has been robbed.  Just one month ago police search for a suspect that got away.  Thorn says he may have done it again.

“This individual does fit the description but it’s too soon for us to know if it’s the same individual or not,” said Thorn, “I don’t think the residents are in any danger he’s potentially but we don’t want to take any chances we know he’s an armed individual and we don’t want anyone to approach him.”

Regardless, Springfield residents say they’re locking their doors.

“We don’t know who the suspect is we don’t know anything about it so we got to try to stay safe,” said Haley Nelson.

“It’s kind of scary,” said Ariel Boutte, “because you never know if they could come to your residence or what.”

Police are still hoping residents can help them catch the culprit.  The suspect is said to be a black male and was last seen wearing black pants, a black jacket with a hood and a black ski cap.  Anyone with information is asked to call Crime-Stoppers at 785-TIPS.

“Dynamic Entry” fancy talk for Springfield… “Undisclosed Amount” - I’m tired of hearing that. Obviously the Bank doesn’t want to say how much he got so why don’t they say $15.00. I think it would make the person look more like a fool. Possibly make him rebut to friends thus “Dynamically Increasing” the chance someone will call the S.O.
