One Man Killed in Washington County Accident

An accident in Washington County leaves one man dead.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol a Dodge Caravan and semi truck were both in the eastbound lane on Interstate 10.

The semi driver, 76-year-old Yerasimos Drakatos, told authorities he had the cruise control set at about 67 mph when he felt a large explosion.

FHP reports that the caravan had become lodged under the semi’s trailer.

The driver of the caravan, 48-year-old Robert Pate, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
