FRAUD ALERT!
Winner’s International Sweepstakes
“Your name has been selected as the winner of the Winner’s International Sweepstakes. We are a marketing company hired by Winner’s International of Las Vegas Nevada to process your winnings.” This is what your caller or emailer wants you to believe. They then go on to tell you to send $2000 thru Western Union to an offshore bank so they can release your winnings; which by the way is over $1.5 million.
Sound too good to be true; your right it is. The caller however, is very persistent, calling one gentleman 6 times demanding he send them $2,052.
To keep from becoming a victim of this scam and others take these simple steps:
• Hang up if you do not know who’s on the other end
• Delete all emails from people you do not know
• If the caller persists in calling give them another number to call; our Fraud Line. You can say something like this; “I’m sorry it seems we have a bad connection can you call me back on my other line? My number is .” Then hang up.
If you receive an email, letter or phone call from someone claiming you have won something or asking for money and you are not sure what to do call our Fraud Line and we will be happy to take a look at what you have and help you determine if it is a scam.
“Remember if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is” says Sheriff Haddock “and remember to share with your family, friends and neighbors information you learn about scams currently in our area.”

First, we are not being sneaky and gathering your email or other information to sell to telemarketers or e-mail spam companies.
