Bay County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene of a car accident at approximately 4:15 p.m. Tuesday at the corner of Lake Drive and South Gay Avenue in Callaway. At the scene, deputies found that a 2000 Chrysler PT Cruiser had veered off the road crashing half way through a wall of the residence at 712 S. Gay Avenue.
Deputies have determined that the vehicle was traveling westbound on Lake Drive when it veered off the left side of the road, travelled through several front yards before crossing Gay Avenue and crashing into the north side of the house at 712 S. Gay Avenue and coming to rest half way inside the home.
The home owner was inside the residence at the time of the accident and received a laceration on the left side of her face. The driver, 19 year old Erick Alan Hayes of Panama City, also was cut on his face. Both have been transported to Bay Medical Center.
The accident is still under investigation.
