Dwayne Iverson Owens is now “behind bars” following more than a week long manhunt for his whereabouts’.  On Monday afternoon, the suspect was arrested at a family member’s home on Rupert Ray Road in the Valley View Community by a Walton County Sheriff’s Office Vice-Narcotics Investigator.

The search for Owens began on Friday, January eighth after he escaped from law enforcement custody on an outstanding warrant for child support.  An intensive manhunt involving Sheriff’s Office Personnel and the Walton Correctional Institution K-9 tracking team took place in a rural, heavily wooded area between Ponce de Leon and the Red Bay Community.

The 40-year-old suspect faces the following charges: Child Support; Accessory after the Fact; and Escape.  He is scheduled to make his first-appearance before a Walton County Judge this morning.

Owens was one of three suspects all being sought at the same time by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.  Last week, Billy Ray Blane and Chrissy Nicole Clark were arrested at separate locations in Walton County.  They were taken into custody on a host of drug related charges stemming from an eight-month Sheriff’s Office Undercover Operation into the Manufacture and Distribution of Crystal Methamphetamine in Northwest, Florida and Southeast, Alabama.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office wants to thank the numerous tips provided by the public concerning the whereabouts’ of each of the suspects.
