Bay County, Fla:

A sinkhole shuts down a beach intersection Saturday afternoon.

Traffic had to be diverted around the intersection of North Lagoon Drive and Joan Avenue for several hours.

Officials with Panama City Beach Underground Water tell News 13 the sinkhole was caused by a water main break.

Workers with city and county engineering assisted with pumping water out of the damaged section of the road.

They say there could be more damage to the road that just the hole at that particular intersection; they say farther down the road the water under the pavement actually pushed it up about six inches.

Officials say several homes in the area will be under a boil water notice until the break is fixed.
