Washington County, Fla:

A judge is ruling that the public be kept out of some hearings in the baby Shannon case.

Circuit Judge Allen Register tells News 13 that the Department of Children and Families asked that future dependency hearings for Shannon Dedrick be closed.  The request was made in order to keep Shannon’s whereabouts and medical records private.

Register says hearings in the criminal proceedings will remain open as well as custody proceedings.

Baby Shannon was reported missing on Halloween from her Chipley home.  Authorities say she was found five days later in a cedar chest under her aunt’s bed.  Her mother, Chrystina Mercer, and aunt, Susan Baker, are facing charges in the case.
