Neighbors Mourn Andrews’ Death

Neighbors and authorities in Walton County are on alert tonight.  The Walton County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a man they suspect to be connected to the death of 60-year-old Elizabeth Andrews.

Authorities say an arrest warrant has been issued for 41 year old Jeffrey Allen Yates. Investigators say Yates is known to frequent the DeFuniak Springs area.
He is six-feet tall and weighs around two-hundred pounds.  He has brown receding hair and a pony-tail.

The discovery of Andrews’s body on Monday rocked the community in north Walton County. Today neighbors tell News 13 that she knew the suspect.

On a humid afternoon in Gaskin neighbors give of their time to pay homage to a neighbor and friend.  Elizabeth Andrews died an untimely death shocking her neighbors. Today a few neighbors come to cut Elizabeth’s grass.  They feel like it’s the least they can do for her. She lived alone but neighbors say she was a sweet and loving person.

According to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office a caregiver found 60-year-old Elizabeth Andrews’ body in her home at about 9 o’clock on Monday morning.  A warrant for the arrest of 41 year-old Jeffrey Allen Yates is out.  Neighbors say that Elizabeth Andrews did know the suspect in her murder. They say that he did cut her grass every now and then and that she even gave him rides to town because he had no car of his own.

The authorites say that this man, Jeffrey Yates, hung out in DeFuniak Springs.  They believe Yates has posession of Andrews’ blue Ford F-350 pickup truck. Neighbors say she wasn’t in very good health.

One neighbor said today that Mrs. Andrews was like a surrogate grandmother to their family and that they loved her very much.  The feeling in Gaskin is definitely one of sadness and fear since Jeffrey Yates is still on the loose.
