Two lives are lost in an apparent murder-suicide in Jackson County.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says Michael A. Oakford, 45, and his wife Crystal A. Oakford,35, were found dead in their Marianna home early Saturday morning. Their bodies have been taken in for autopsies, but the Sheriff’s Office believes that Micheal shot Crystal before shooting himself.
Press Release:
At approximately 11:47 p.m. Friday, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to a Domestic Violence dispute at 314 Highway 73 South Marianna.
The caller advised that the occupants of the address were having domestic problems and that a deputy was needed.
Authorities say while deputies were en-route, the Sheriff’s Office received a second call advising that it appeared the two people had been shot and killed.
Deputies arrived to find the bodies of the two people inside the residence. Both appeared to have been shot.
Authorities say the investigation at this time indicated that the male subject shot the female subject and then took his own life.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Mobile Crime Scene Unit.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
