A family will be able to cook and refrigerate their own Christmas dinner this year thanks to the Panama City Police Department, who donated appliances to a family in need today.
Earlier in the week Sergeant Jeff Becker with the police department received a phone call from a Bay County citizen asking if needy families could acquire appliances through the Toys for Tots program. And although the program provides toys for children only, the police department was able to find a stove and refrigerator, which were purchased by Bill Byrd Kia and donated to the family this morning. Gary Gilbert owns Wholesale Appliances and says that in compliance with Christmas he wanted to use his business to help a family in need.
