The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission is searching for a missing hunter tonight on the Apalachicola River.
Stan Kirkland with FWC tells News 13 34-year-old John Mark Slappey of Albany, Georgia was duck hunting with his brother when he was swept over the Jim Woodruff Lock and Dam.
Kirkland says workers at the dam saw Slappey’s float tube drift through one of the open gates and into the Apalachicola River.
FWC searched by boat and helicopter for several hours this afternoon, and will continue the search tomorrow morning.
Kirkland calls it a search and recovery and says they do not believe Slappey is still alive.
