A judge in Bay County who was once reprimanded by the Florida Supreme Court is once again facing a complaint.
News 13 has learned a grievance was filed against Circuit Judge Richard Albritton with the Judicial Qualifications Commission. In September of 2006, Judge Albritton went before the state Supreme Court. That hearing followed the JQC filing 36 charges against Albritton for ethical misconduct. He admitted to 14 of those allegations.
The current anonymous filing accuses Albritton of abusing his power by charging a man ordered to give a DNA sample with contempt of court. Albritton’s attorney, Waylon Graham, says the complaint is unfounded.
“The Judge has an ethical obligation to maintain dignity and decorum and order in the courtroom and if he does not do that, that by itself could be a grievance against the judge. Here the judge used his best judgement to maintain control of the courtroom and make somebody behave that was mishbehaving and someone filed a complaint about that,” Graham said.
Graham says the judge must appear before the JQC in Tampa the second week of January. The panel will determine if there is any validity to the complaint. If they do, he will have to return for another JQC hearing.
If you look back, Judge Albritton paid his dues for his mistakes. Now you have some scumbag that is wasting breath by living deciding that he’ll file trumped up charges against Judge Albritton in hopes of getting back at him for being what he is, a scab on the back of civilized society. Have any of you been paying attention to the news after this was started? Everyone needs to look at the whole picture before condemning this judge again. I don’t agree with what Judge Albritton did before but as I said, he has paid his dues so he should be allowed to go on being a productive member of society. That’s what our judicial system is supposed to be all about.
No, sadly, it’s an appointed position.
Is his seat an elected position?
The fact that Judge Albritton is still on the bench after admitting to 14 charges of ethical misconduct is a travisty. Will the new charges of “Abusing power” make a difference? Is it wrong to expect the leaders of our government’s judicial system to set good examples for our community and follow the law?
If these individuals are not expected to adhere to the rules then why should any other citizen be expected to?

From what I’ve read, it does not appear that the individual who appeared before Judge Albritton filed the charges. The News Herald reported that individual left town and had not been heard from. It appears someone else took offense and filed. Does anyone know who the individual was?
